Emilio J. Cocinero was invited by Markus Gerhards to Kaiserslautern, Germany, where he presented several studies on biomolecules (carbohydrates and glycopeptides) and several applications, exploiting an experimental strategy which combines microwave and laser spectroscopies in high resolution, computation and synthesis. In addition, other applications of high resolution spectroscopies were presented.

Emilio J. Cocinero attended to the Biophysics Seminar in The Biofisika Institute in Bilbao. He presented several results on the conformational landscape of several carbohydrates, peptides and glycopeptides with different biological roles, which have been obtained due to the combination of Laser and Microwave spectroscopy and theoretical calculations.

Emilio J. Cocinero joined a new Biofisika Institute (CSIC – UPV/EHU) and it has been awarded with 3.572.296 € by 3 years by Basque Government as part of Basic Research and Excellence Centers (BERC program).  

We have been awarded a 3 years project financed by MINECO that also includes a Ph. D. Scholarship to develop our research.

Emilio J. Cocinero finished his term (2014-2017) and Gonzalo Giménez Osses was elected new president of Young Chemists Division (JIQ) of the Spanish Society of Chemistry. The meeting of Young Chemists Division was a success. In addition, Emilio gave a talk during the conference.

Prof. José Cernicharo at Instituto de Ciencias de Materiales de Madrid (CSIC) gave a wonderful talk titled “Las moléculas y el polvo a través del ciclo de vida de las estrellas”. He talked about his new European Project. We could also discuss about future collaborations.

Our work about exo-2,3-epoxynorbornane was published on ChemPhysChem, 2015, 16, 2609–2614. We showed a study of exo-2,3-epoxynorbornane in the gas phase by pulsed jet Fourier transform microwave spectroscopy in the 4–18 GHz region.
